West Country Health Care was established in the early 1990s. The transition from 25 years of Nursing to selling Health Insurance took some time before a clear outline could be formed of what was required of a brokerage. The main aim was and continues to be offering clients the ´Advice´.

Now with the advent of the Financial Services Authority´s regulations, it will be clearly documented what is required. Before the imposition of regulation, I set personal standards, which had their foundations within the ethos of nursing. Nowadays these standards are referred to as ´Best Practice´ and ´Best Advice´ West Country Health Care endeavors to uphold these standards.

It matters not that the client may be resident in the United Kingdom or an expatriate in Spain or South Africa . A clear and concise understanding of what the clients needs actually are, alongside a record of any medical history, are considered within the budget set by the client, so a structured plan can be formed as to which policy would be best suited.

West Country Health Care actively revises the policies available within the industry to ensure that the benefits are up-to-date. If new products are being launched then enquires are made to ascertain if they would be suitable for inclusion in the portfolio, which is presented to prospective clients.

As Principal of the brokerage I love my job; I regard it as an extension of the Healthcare profession. It is not just a question of finding the correct policy for the amount of money available. It is about making sure the client is happy with their choice and safe in the knowledge that it will deliver at claim time. It is not within my remits to refer but I can provide, on request, the names of Consultants for their particular condition, as I now have a huge database of Consultants and their specialities.

The relationship I hold with my clients surpasses the typical understanding of broker-client association, since my role is one of support and advice. I believe that because I have such a good working relationship with my clients, they do not hesitate to contact me, whenever they need to claim, alter their policies or request additional ones-such as travel and dental plans.

I commit to clients that the support of the brokerage is with them not only at the time of sale, but for the duration of their relationship with West Country Health Care.
